History of Ice
Ice started as an idea which we ran with, beginning to figure out how it could work. It was a learning process and we held many meetings to get it going.
It started off small but within a few months the numbers were growing and we were really enjoying this new programme’s success.
In 2008 we struck a new problem of the young people growing out of the original age group. This year we have split the group in two – Neos, an older group (years 9 and above) and Ice, the younger group (years 6-8). This has created two smaller groups but hopefully we can build them up again.
What is Ice all about?
Ice is a place where young people can be themselves, a place where they can forget the pressures of life and have some fun. It is about having positive Christian role models who are willing to stand alongside the young people and look out for them as friends.
Someone once said if a young sapling has a stake secured beside it, solid and not moving, then it can grow into a strong, tall tree. Ice stands for this!
Ice is also a place where leaders try to live out what they preach (though it is difficult) about God and being a Christian.
In summary Ice is a fun, safe place to hang out with a Christian flavour added.
